One Salis Mundus is required for the first level given, plus another for each current level. The infusion's instability increases by 1.0 for each level of current strength. The first level of runic shielding costs 32 Potentia, and 16 apiece Praecantatio and Tutamen essentia, and the amounts needed double for each runic level the item already has. This is another advanced infusion it adds one point of strength per infusion, but the costs increase rapidly depending on the current strength of the item (so while the standard runic baubles can be further augumented, this will be very expensive): It is also possible to apply "Runic Augumentation" to baubles or armor pieces to give or increase their runic strength. Note that there are also non-runic baubles, which "compete" for their slots with the runic items. Aside from one "trinket" found in treasure chests, all these items are fairly advanced infusions. Each provides a characteristic strength toward the shield, and some also provide other special behaviors. The primary source of runic shielding is several dedicated objects which are worn in the Baubles slots. Regardless of the number or strength of items in use, a "full runic bar" (covering the entire health bar) indicates the shield is at maximum strength for the current equipment. In the player display, shielding is indicated by a glowing overlay over the health bar, which shrinks as the shield is depleted. The shields consume Aer and Terra vis, and running out of either aspect will stop shield recovery. If no vis is available, the shields will not recharge. However, this recovery costs vis, from carried wands or worn vis-storage amulets. The shield strength is reduced as it absorbs damage, but can then recover over time. Several items are dedicated to providing runic shields, and others can be enhanced to contribute to it.Įach item which provides shielding has a specific strength which it contributes to a common pool, which becomes the maximum strength of the shield. Runic shielding is a powerful protective system, where certain equipment gives a magical shield which absorbs damage of all sorts before it affects the player. You can help Thaumcraft4 Wiki by expanding it. The Instability of this recipe begins at Moderate, but increases as more levels are added. This article is a stub.

This makes it very difficult to put many levels of Runic Shielding onto an object, but these costs can be reduced by various means as shown in the article over Infusion. The costs start at only 32 Potentia and 16 Preamunio and Vitreous Essentia, but for every level added, these costs double from the last, meaning the equation for calculating the cost of the Infusion process is: y(2^(x-1)), where x is the level of runic shielding being applied and y is 32 or 16, depending on whether one wishes to calculate the Potentia, 32, or Preamunio and Vitreous, 16, Essentia needed. The Shielding is then added via Infusion by Infusing the desired armor or jewelry piece with 1 diamond and then 1 Salis Mundus for every level of Shielding being added and can be added to a technically indefinite scale.
#RUNIX SHIELDING AUGMENTATION MOD#
To imbue an item with Runic Shielding, it must be part of the Thaumcraft Mod to be counted as "magical in nature". This research allows for one to apply Runic Shielding to armors of magical nature and jewelries outside of the pieces of jewelry normally allowed to be Infused with Runic Shielding. Runic Shielding Augmentation is a research option in the Artifice tab that is unlocked for research after researching Runic Shielding. Please note and excuse the use of a texture pack. The Infusion recipe for Runic Shielding, as shown in the Thaumonomicon.
